SHE DESERVES A MARKED GRAVE This year's Pennies for Malisa 5K intends to raise enough money to mark the grave of Malisa DelaSancha, who was 4-years old when she was the victim of a homicide in Piqua.  Even if you can't make it to the 5K on Saturday, 5/14, consider dropping your donation at the police station.  You can make out any checks to "PROTECT Piqua".   Malisa was a victim of homicide in April, 2012.  Before her death Malisa would collect pennies and when she collected enough pennies, she would ask her mother to go to the store to buy candy with the pennies.  After Malisa passed away, her family and friends started collecting pennies for charity, so on race day feel free to donate any pennies you may have sitting around your house.  This year we are raising money to purchase a head stone for Malisa's cemetery plot (any additional money will go to the area business that helps other families).   https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Piqua/Pennie...

The Board of PROTECT-Piqua opposes the legalization and commercialization of marijuana for recreational purposes.  The purpose of the PROTECT Board is to provide an organized forum for mutually advantageous communication between City of Piqua Police Department and Piqua Community members regarding Drug-Free Piqua and related PROTECT-Piqua crime prevention programs for the safety of the community. In carrying out the duties, the Board of Trustees shall seek to identify the community needs of the City of Piqua, develop program plans, determine funding needs, set program priorities, and implement plans to address those issues. At all times, the Board of Trustees should seek to keep the community informed of its activities, develop an information system which provides valid and reliable information for such publicity.

Don't assume that poor turn-out at a meeting means nobody cares.  It's difficult for people to find time to attend meetings...
